As 2015 rapidly draws to a close just a short note to reflect over the last 12 months. Our 1st XV finished a very credible 4th in division 2A of the All Ireland league at the end of the 2014/2015 season and are currently top of 2A at the Christmas break. Under the guidance of Head Coach Dan Soper and Simon Best the team deserve credit for playing a brand of rugby that certainly provides supporters with plenty of entertainment on a Saturday afternoon. We wish them well for the remainder of the season in their quest for promotion to division 1B of the AIL in 2016.
We continue to fulfill senior 2nds, 3rds and 4th XV fixtures and many thanks to the team managers and coaches for their commitment and dedication.
Our mini section has grown significantly under the guidance of Chairperson Paul Wright, and although we struggled with u14 youth numbers last season, the hard work of our Ulster Rugby Development Officer, Stephen Irvine, is starting to show results with numbers increasing at youth level.
The opening of our new kitchen extension/refurbishment in September this year has significantly enhanced our catering facilities at the club. The Ladies committee under Chair Etta Little continues to provide top quality catering and support to all sections of the club-many thanks.
In January 2016 we will be reviewing our 5-year strategic development plan and will set new goals in order to maintain our program of improving facilities at Rifle Park, finances permitting.
Finally, President Alan Harvey and John Best Chairman, on behalf of the Executive Committee, would like to wish all sponsors, players, coaches, members, and supporters a happy Christmas and a big thank you for your hard work and support during 2015.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year for 2016.”
