13s show spirit in heavy defeat    Share

BANBRIDGE U13s 0 Lurgan 85

October 8, 2011

Saturday was a character building day for the U-13s as they lost 85-0 to a highly disciplined, highly organized Lurgan team.

With Lurgan not losing their grammar school boys until third year they are able to pick from a much bigger pool of players. Tries fairly rained in during the first half, but the Bann team showed some spirited courage in the second half, holding up a number of tries, putting together a few pick-and-goes and finishing the second half camped on the Lurgan line.

Lurgan however showed their class and mounted a firm defence, denying Bann a consolation try with a scrappy clearance to touch at full time.

Once again William Cousins made a huge impact, tackling himself to a standstill; prop Chris Bennett, wing Troy Pinion and captain Charlie Jones also putting in solid performances.
