U15s lose out to City of Derry in Final    Share

City of Derry   25 BANBRIDGE U15s 12

April 30, 2011

Last Saturday saw Bann's U-15 side play their third Ulster final in three years at Ravenhill.

Having lost the toss Bann played with the wind in the first half. After some early pressure Matthew Beck scored to give his side a 5-0 lead. This seemed to motivate the City of Derry team who struck back with a try of their own.

At this stage Derry were playing all the rugby and were unlucky not to go further in front after they charged down a defensive kick. With the aid of the wind Bann kicked down into the opposition "22" and Cameron Cromie scored under the posts with Moore converting to leave the half-time score 12-5.

This was never going to be enough as the wind was now a major factor. Weak Bann tackling allowed Derry to take control and two tries and a penalty left the game beyond Bann. At this stage all the subs were introduced. Derry capped a fine display by scoring another try to be crowned deserved winners.

Team coaches Alan Harvey and Richard Jennings would like to thank their sponsors Wm Bell & Sons and the Northern Bank for their support along with Willie Kirkwood for his considerable input in the latter half of the season.
