Cup, Plate and League Fever Share
All three youth teams are involved in cup and plate matches this week. With a 27-8 away win over Malone the U17's have now set up a semi-final match against Dromore in the Ulster Cup. This fixture will be played on the 16th April. The U-15s’ semi-final on Saturday is also a repeat of their League play-off, with Carrick again the opposition. The teams drew on that occasion with the Co Antrim side being deemed Ulster League winners by virtue of having scored the first try. They will host Bann on Saturday, and the Rifle Park lads know they will have to be at their best if they are to make it through to finals day at Ravenhill on 30th April. Last night the U-13s came through on the right side of a 36-29 thriller against Donegal to claim their place in the final of the Ulster Plate. They now travel to Clogher Valley on Saturday to take on Virginia in the final, kick-off 10.30pm. So you have your choice of going to Carrick or Clogher Valley on Saturday to support one of our youth sides who overall are enjoying one of their best-ever seasons. And you’ll still have time to get back home to encourage the Firsts as they take on Highfield in a game which could potentially leave them just one step away from Division Two rugby next season. It’s building up to quite a climax to the season at Rifle Park!
