PORTADOWN FOURTHS 7 BANN FIFTHS 57

Bann Fifths kick-started their league season in rampant fashion, out-scoring their Portadown opponents on an 8-1 try count to claim maximum points.
Centre Scott Jardine set the ball rolling with a try in the opening minutes and by half-time Colin Hamilton, Matthew Quinn and Jordan McKibbin had added their names to the score sheet, with the home side managing a solitary converted try by way of response.
The pattern of play was unchanged after the break, with McKibbin and Hamilton doubling their tallies and Kyle McConnell and Stephen Cowan chipping in with a touchdown apiece.
The Manager of the self-styled “Mighties”, Jerry Ramsey, couldn’t have been happier with the form of his side in their first outing of the season. “We just had too much power for Portadown today,” he commented after the game. “I’m sure there’ll be tougher challenges in this league but we’ll tuck those five points away and prepare for the next battle
