BANN U-16s 48 INSTONIANS U-16s 7
Bann’s Under-16 side gave further evidence of their steady improvement over the season, picking up a second league win with a comprehensive defeat of their Belfast opponents.
Skipper Aaron Graham was leading from the front as always, and the team responded superbly in a first half which yielded tries for Darren Sloane, Calvin Irvine, Ben Montgomery, Jonny Simpson, Jake Smyth and Graham himself.
A re-invigorated Instonians side started the second half determined to make amends for a poor first half display, but thanks to some solid tackling and timely steals their only tangible reward was a penalty try following a high tackle. But Bann reasserted their authority to add two further touchdowns through Kieffer McKnight and Daniel Wilson.
Coach Calum Russell was delighted with his side’s performance, which he said was a reflection of all the hard work the lads had put in on training nights. Out-half Will Cromie picked up the man-of-the-match award for a fine all-round display.
