ARMAGH U-14s   29      BANN U-14s   10

Bann U-14s’ unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday with a 29-10 defeat at the hands of a well-drilled quick-thinking Armagh side. Bann’s tries came from Jamie Carville and Darren Sloane.

Coach Noel Irwin said that his players struggled with the referee’s interpretations of the Laws. “Sometimes you get inconsistencies with refereeing,” he commented afterwards. “But it wasn’t all down to that. We were poor around the breakdown, our defensive line speed was erratic, we missed too many tackles and our passing at key moments was static and laboured.

“This was very disappointing given the quality of previous performances and the intensity of our training.  We were unlucky in dropping the ball twice when over the line and on the positive side our scrummaging was excellent throughout the game.

I fully expect the Squad to bounce back this week with an away fixture in Newry and the coaching team will be working hard to this end during the week.”
