1998 was a very significant year in this country – for two reasons.
The Good Friday Agreement was signed and Banbridge Rugby Club won promotion to the All-Ireland League.
Our politicians mightn’t have made much progress in the 20 years that have passed.
However Banbridge Rugby Club certainly has! A steady climb up through the Divisions now sees the Rifle Park club on the cusp of taking their place in the top tier of club rugby in Ireland.
This Saturday they host UCC in the final of the play-offs with a place in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League the prize on offer.
Ulster Rugby needs a club playing at the top level in order to offer some of their their squad, Development and Academy players club rugby at the highest club level.
Banbridge would welcome the support of all Ulster clubs and of course the town of Banbridge as our Firsts strive to round off a very successful season by clinching that place in Division 1A.
